Kalocsa and its Region can be a Winner of the Paks II. Investment

Date: 02.24.2020

János Süli, minister without portfolio, is also committed to make the most of the development opportunities offered by the investment for Kalocsa and its region, it was told during a forum, organized by Club of Entrepreneurs of Kalocsa.

Dr. Géza Filvig, mayor of Kalocsa, said that the Paks II investment could be another boost for Kalocsa's growth.

Zoltán László Csuka, Managing director of offsite investments of PIP Central Danube Regional Development Nonprofit Ltd., said that minister without portfolio János Süli is also committed to maximizing the development opportunities offered by the investment in Kalocsa and its region.

Mr Csuka said: “PIP Central Danube Regional Development Nonprofit Ltd. has three major tasks: one is to create all the necessary infrastructure for the construction of Paks II. The other area practically covers how the business community in the Central Danube region can generate additional profits related to the investment, which, besides its own prosperity, also helps the development of the headquarters through the local business tax. The third task is regional development. At one time, regional development was clearly the same as it was decided for Paks II project, but now it is an independent function in many areas.”

A government decision was made on July 31 last year that PIP Kft. will be responsible for providing the necessary accommodation for Paks II construction. It follows that the amount of accommodation required by the Russian party must be established. According to data provided by the Russian side, at the peak of the construction, 12-13 thousand people must be accommodated. “About a thousand people need to be placed in flats in different locations. Another big task is to provide mass accommodation for 7-8 thousand workers.”
